Sterling Engineering is hiring a Controller for a well-established, family-owned manufacturing company seeking a hands-on financial leader to oversee all accounting operations and partner closely with executive leadership. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Controller who enjoys working in a collaborative environment where your expertise will directly influence business strategy, operational performance, and long-term growth. You'll lead a small accounting team while driving financial accuracy, process improvements, and sound business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor the accounting department while overseeing daily financial operations
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
  • Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements and management reports
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with GAAP standards
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and cash flow planning
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed asset accounting
  • Coordinate year-end audits and partner with external auditors and tax professionals
  • Strengthen internal controls and continuously improve accounting processes
  • Provide financial analysis, reporting, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial reporting requirements
  • Utilize SAP ERP and advanced Excel reporting tools to support financial decision-making
Qualifications
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent professional experience
  • Must have 5+ years of Controller or senior-level accounting experience
  • Previous experience leading or supervising an accounting team
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting best practices
  • Hands-on experience using SAP ERP systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and financial reporting
