Position Overview The Controls Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical control systems, automation equipment, and production machinery. This role ensures all systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform electrical installation, maintenance, and repair on control systems, PLCs, sensors, motors, and related equipment up to 480 volts
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and control issues to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
Execute preventive maintenance tasks and document all work performed.
Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to support equipment upgrades and process improvements.
Ensure all work meets safety, compliance, and quality standards.
Assist with commissioning new equipment, including wiring, calibration, and functional testing.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts usage, and system changes.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to automation and electrical reliability.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or journeyman license preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial electrical or controls work.
Strong knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, sensors, relays, and industrial automation components.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and ladder logic.
Proficiency with multimeters, testing equipment, and diagnostic tools.
Understanding of NFPA 70E, OSHA electrical safety standards, and lockout/tagout procedures.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Work Schedule & Requirements
Must be willing to work some weekends as needed to support production demands, emergency repairs, or scheduled maintenance.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and industrial equipment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
