Job Description:
About the Role
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support a high-volume manufacturing environment by serving as a key technical resource for production and skilled trades teams. This role is responsible for troubleshooting and supporting new and existing automated equipment, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and helping maintain production uptime for engine and axle operations.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving complex automation issues, supporting robotics and controls systems, and working in a fast-paced plant environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct production line support for controls logic, PLC, and NC programming, primarily on Siemens-based hardware platforms
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control-related issues on automated production equipment and robotics
  • Serve as a second-level emergency support resource for equipment stoppages and out-of-process conditions
  • Design, implement, and improve control systems for industrial equipment and automated processes
  • Support and maintain PLC, CNC, and HMI hardware/software
  • Configure and integrate sensors, actuators, and other industrial control devices
  • Perform system testing, debugging, and validation to ensure proper operation
  • Collaborate with maintenance, production, electrical, and mechanical teams to resolve technical equipment failures
  • Update and maintain control documentation including wiring diagrams, logic, and system changes
  • Ensure all controls designs and changes comply with safety standards and plant requirements
  • Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations teams
  • Support continuous improvement projects focused on uptime, efficiency, and KPI performance

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field
  • 5–7 years of controls engineering or industrial automation experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting, ideally with Siemens platforms
  • Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment in a plant environment
  • Working knowledge of HMI systems and industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and Profibus
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, instrumentation, and control system documentation
  • Experience troubleshooting automated systems and supporting equipment downtime events
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness and ability to work midnight shift

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Kuka robots, including modifying robot positions and logic
  • Familiarity with industrial automation standards and machine safety requirements
  • Knowledge of CAD software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Automotive manufacturing experience is a plus

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is a hands-on controls professional who can quickly diagnose equipment issues, support plant operations, and improve automated systems for long-term performance. This person should be comfortable working closely with maintenance and production teams, responding to urgent line issues, and driving improvements in a highly automated manufacturing setting.

Why Join Us?
  • Opportunity to support critical manufacturing operations in a highly automated environment
  • Exposure to advanced controls, robotics, and industrial automation systems
  • Collaborative team environment with strong cross-functional support
  • Key role in improving uptime, efficiency, and production performance
