Controls Engineer 3

Our client, a global automotive manufacturing leader, is seeking a Controls Engineer to join their team. As a Controls Engineer, you will be part of the Technical Services team supporting production, maintenance, and cross-functional operations teams. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, effective communication, and teamwork abilities which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Controls Engineer
Location: Detroit, MI
Pay Range: $52–$60/hour 

What’s the Job?

• Provide production line support for PLC, CNC, HMI, and robot controls (Siemens-based platforms)
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment faults and unplanned downtime on manufacturing lines
• Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize KPIs and throughput
• Support maintenance teams in diagnosing and repairing machine control issues
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex equipment and process challenges

What’s Needed?

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field
• 5–7 years of experience in controls engineering or industrial automation
• Strong experience with Siemens PLCs (S7-300, S7-1500), drives, and servo systems
• Experience with robot programming (Fanuc/Kuka) and industrial networks (Profinet/Profibus)
• Ability to work in a plant environment supporting production and maintenance operations
