This role works closely with senior engineers to develop control drawings, specifications, points lists, and sequences of operations for complex mechanical and electrical systems. Applications include heat-rejection systems, chilled water plants, industrial air handling units, and integration with intelligent HVAC and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS). The Controls Engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and vendors to ensure high-quality, technically sound project delivery.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesDuties/ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Plan and execute engineering tasks independently or within a project teamDemonstrate strong understanding of CM|MC engineering services and related practicesSupport proposal, design, and construction phases under general supervisionExecute controls design for complex, mission-critical projectsDevelop drawings and specifications for issuance to architects, contractors, and building ownersAttend client meetings and contribute to technical discussionsCollaborate with internal engineering disciplines and external vendors/manufacturersCommunicate complex control and monitoring concepts to clients and stakeholdersIntegrate mechanical and electrical engineering requirements into facility-wide controls and monitoring systemsMaintain and develop client relationships through regular interactionPerform all aspects of controls design, including system reviews and drawing checks prior to issuanceSurvey and evaluate existing site conditionsReview controls contractor and system integrator shop drawings to ensure compliance with design requirementsRequired Skills/AbilitiesStrong understanding of building-type HVAC systems or process control applicationsExperience from a controls vendor, commissioning agent, or design consultant environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and related design softwareKnowledge of building, mechanical, electrical, and energy codesAbility to organize and present design information to project teamsStrong attention to detail, highly organized, and a self-starterAbility to travel to project sites as neededEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience5–7 years of experience designing building automation control systems for commercial, industrial, or mission-critical facilitiesEIT or PE (or ability to become licensed)Experience in mission-critical, industrial, commercial, or similar environments preferredPhysical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk & working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds at timesThe responsibilities outlined in this job description are intended to describe the general nature & level of work performed by individuals assigned to this role.
