Coordinate the design, installation, and commissioning of next-gen welding, vision, and pick-and-place equipment for battery cell Jelly Roll manufacturing. This role collaborates closely with equipment OEMs and integrators on custom automation, drives the ramp of new equipment by characterizing and improving base performance and capability (measured by product quality and tool availability), and tunes processes through hands-on troubleshooting and Design of Experiments (DoEs). The engineer ensures product meets 6-sigma and all quality specifications, partners with cross-functional teams to launch new products and processes, and delivers documentation and training for a seamless handover to production and maintenance teams.

  • Coordinate the design, install, and commissioning of next-gen welding, vision, and pick-and-place equipment for Jelly Roll manufacturing
  • Collaborate with equipment OEMs and integrators on custom automation, optimizing expected equipment capability
  • Generate machine qualification checklists and manage commissioning, validation, and start-up of equipment
  • Drive ramp of new equipment by characterizing base performance and capability of each system
  • Improve performance and capability through hands-on troubleshooting of electromechanical systems
  • Help troubleshoot controls software bugs and run DoEs to tune process parameters
  • Perform statistical analyses to verify process requirements are met to 6-sigma standards and quality specifications
  • Develop and refine manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, company policy, and all Health and Safety laws and codes
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Controls, and Vision Engineering to launch new products, processes, and equipment
  • Create manufacturing introductions and machine instructions, and train production and maintenance teams for handover
  • Bachelor s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
  • 2 years of experience working in a high volume manufacturing environment
  • 2 years of experience introducing new equipment and processes into a production environment
  • 2 years of experience in project management and documenting processes/procedures for manufacturing, maintenance, or quality
  • 1 year of experience developing manufacturing processes
  • 1 year of experience transitioning products from prototype to mass production
  • 1 year of experience analyzing high volume production metrics data
  • 1 year of experience with laser processes or equipment
