Job Title: Controls Engineer

Job Description

This role offers an opportunity for a Controls Engineer with at least three years of experience to support the design and build of automated equipment in a growing organization that contributes to the medical device industry. You will work on electrical and controls engineering projects, develop and program automation systems, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, safe, and efficient machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and build of automated equipment and machinery from concept through commissioning.
  • Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems for automation projects.
  • Apply electrical engineering principles to design, implement, and optimize control systems.
  • Create and modify electrical schematics and layouts using AutoCAD or similar design tools.
  • Ensure automated equipment complies with NEC standards and relevant safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to integrate robotics and automation solutions.
  • Participate in testing, debugging, and validation of automated equipment before deployment.
  • Provide on-site support for installation, start-up, and optimization of equipment at customer or project locations.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and controls issues in a hands-on environment.
  • Document designs, configurations, and changes to ensure accurate records and future maintainability.
  • Travel to project sites approximately 30% of the time, depending on project needs, to support equipment installation and service.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical engineering or controls engineering.
  • Bachelor"s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience with PLC programming for automated equipment or control systems.
  • Experience with HMI development or configuration for industrial automation.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles applied to automation and controls.
  • Ability to read, create, and modify electrical schematics and layouts.
  • Hands-on approach to troubleshooting and resolving electrical and controls issues.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30% of the time based on project requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with automated equipment or machine design.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD tools for electrical design.
  • Knowledge of NEC requirements and safety standards for electrical and control systems.
  • Exposure to robotics and robotic integration within automation systems.
  • Programming experience related to automation and control applications.
  • Hands-on hobbies or interests that demonstrate mechanical, electrical, or technical aptitude.
  • Experience working in or supporting projects in the medical device or related industries.

Work Environment

This position is based in an office environment and requires working fully onsite. The role involves approximately 30% travel, which varies depending on project demands, to support equipment installation, commissioning, and service at customer or project locations. You will work with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, AutoCAD, and other automation technologies in a collaborative setting focused on designing and building advanced automated equipment that supports the medical device sector.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
