Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support the design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of high-volume automated manufacturing equipment and control systems.
Title: Controls Engineer Location: Libertyville, IL
Key Responsibilities
Develop and support PLC, HMI, SCADA, and machine control systems.
Lead/support equipment installation, FAT/SAT, validation, and commissioning.
Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and servo systems.
Troubleshoot electrical, controls, motion, instrumentation, vision, and communication systems.
Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Optimize HMI, SCADA, MES, and machine vision systems.
Support PLC/software changes, risk assessments, change controls, and technical documentation.
Provide technical support and training to maintenance and automation teams.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 7+ years of manufacturing experience.
Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Studio 5000/Logix Designer.
Experience with FactoryTalk, Ignition, Cognex, PowerFlex VFDs, and Kinetix servo drives.
Knowledge of EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, ProfiNet, Modbus, RS-232/422/485, and industrial networks.
Strong troubleshooting skills with sensors, safety systems, remote I/O, instrumentation, and control hardware.
Preferred
Medical device or regulated manufacturing experience.
Experience with Cognex, Keyence, Fanuc, Beckhoff, or B&R/ABB systems.
