Job Description

A Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems within industrial and manufacturing processes, utilizing automation technologies like PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces) to optimize production efficiency, ensuring quality standards are met, and troubleshooting system issues while collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems into existing operations; often requiring a strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and software engineering principles.

This role will be responsible for owning the platform control software that translates motion planner trajectories to drive-by-wire commands. Leading a team of 5 Control Software Engineers.

Required education & experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Control Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Controls Software Engineering.
  • Experience in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience in control software algorithm design
  • Experience with vehicle dynamics and actuation systems
  • Robotics experience, preferably in lower level path planning (like pure pursuit or something similar)
  • Understanding of vehicle dynamics
  • Experience implementing PID controllers or similar types of controllers
  • Leadership experience

Preferred experience:

  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning techniques for control systems.
  • Experience with real-world controls experience in automotive or aerospace industries
