Join Litehouse as a Controls Engineer

Location: Lowell, MI Full-Time

Experienced Litehouse is seeking a Controls Engineer II or Sr. Controls Engineer to design, develop, and maintain advanced control systems and instrumentation that automate and optimize industrial processes. In this role, youll enhance existing systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and lead control system projects. Youll also collaborate cross-functionally, ensuring automation solutions are reliable, efficient, and aligned with business needs.

What Youll Do

Design and update technical diagrams, schematics, SCADA block diagrams, and control logic. Lead automation projects from concept through implementation, ensuring timelines and specifications are met. Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and advanced automation equipment. Optimize control algorithms and system performance for reliability, safety, and efficiency. Upgrade and adapt existing systems to meet evolving business and production requirements. Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to controls and instrumentation. Perform system testing, validation, and preventive maintenance. Analyze data to identify performance or quality gaps and recommend improvements. Maintain accurate system documentation, configurations, and change records. Provide training and technical support to ensure knowledge transfer across teams.

What Youll Bring

Controls Engineer II:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4-5 years of experience in designing, installing, and maintaining industrial control systems.
  • Strong background in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming and configuration.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or similar and industrial networking protocols.
  • Intermediate understanding of control theory, electrical systems, and automation technologies.
  • Skilled in ladder logic, structured text, and HMI development.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead complex projects independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Certified Automation Professional, ISA, and/or project management experience is a plus.

Sr. Controls Engineer:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical, Control Systems, or related engineering field, with a Masters preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience designing, installing, and maintaining industrial control systems.
  • Expertise in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming with proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and industrial networking protocols.
  • Advanced knowledge of control theory, automation technologies, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in ladder logic, structured text, and HMI development.
  • Proven ability to lead projects from concept to completion with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills with experience guiding teams and collaborating cross-functionally.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to safety, accuracy, and quality.
  • Professional certifications such as CAP or PMP are a plus.
