Controls Engineer II
Location: Randleman, NC (20 minutes south of Greensboro)
Full-Time | Direct Hire
Compensation: 100,000. 

We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer II to join a growing engineering team focused on designing and implementing advanced industrial automation solutions. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in PLC programming, HMI development, motion control, and system integration who enjoys seeing projects through from concept to commissioning.

Responsibilities
  • Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and motion control systems.
  • Develop higher-level programming for database integration, machine recipes, and data logging.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to deliver fully integrated automation systems.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including I/O lists, system layouts, and operating manuals.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting at customer sites.
  • Document engineering changes and project modifications throughout each phase.
  • Travel up to 25% to customer locations for system startup and support.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience programming and commissioning PLC/HMI and motion control systems.
    • Candidates with an Associate's degree and 7+ years of relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs and HMIs.
  • Experience with machine motion control systems.
  • Previous machine startup and commissioning experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience
  • Fanuc or KUKA robot programming.
  • Python, C, C++, VB.NET, or VBA.
  • HMI/SCADA platforms such as FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, iFIX, or Ignition.
  • AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
