Controls Engineer Technician – SCADA Systems

We are currently seeking a skilled Controls Engineer Technician for an immediate assignment at our manufacturing facility in San Diego. This position will support critical operations by ensuring the reliability and performance of our SCADA infrastructure, with a focus on AVEVA OASyS platforms.
SCADA Platform Support: Hands-on involvement with SCADA software, particularly AVEVA OASyS, including configuring, sustaining, and troubleshooting system components.
Network Communications: Diagnose and resolve connectivity problems across a range of industrial communication types such as serial, Ethernet, and wireless systems.
HMI & Visualization: Update and optimize SCADA screen graphics to reflect operational changes and enhance usability for operators.
System Data Integrity: Manage control system databases by editing and organizing data points, eliminating unused entries, and ensuring accurate representation of field devices.
Third-Party Integration: Incorporate additional systems and hardware into existing SCADA architecture with minimal disruption to operations.
Controls & Electrical Insight: Apply working knowledge of control wiring, field instrumentation, and panel design to support both software and hardware functions.
System Maintenance: Perform regular system reviews, backups, and preventative tasks to identify issues early and maintain high availability.
Change Management: Accurately log updates, troubleshooting steps, and configuration changes for team reference and regulatory traceability.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, IT, and field teams to support ongoing improvements and expansion of the control system.
Operational Security: Follow best practices for safeguarding industrial networks, including user access controls, patching procedures, and backup protocols.
Background in industrial automation, controls engineering, or related technical field
Proven experience with AVEVA OASyS SCADA platforms
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Familiarity with OT cybersecurity practices
Excellent documentation and communication skills
Able to work independently while collaborating across multiple departments
