Description

Dematic Corp has an immediate need for a Controls Engineering Manager to manage a team of project execution engineers within our Project Engineering Organization. The successful candidate will have 5+ years of experience leading engineers on various size and complexity projects in the material handling and logistics automation industry. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.Tactical Execution ResponsibilitiesOwn project performance and outcomes of direct engineering teamProvide coaching and guidance to help ensure team member and project successEnsure project targets are met for quality, on-time delivery, and cost. Anticipate issues and address proactivelyProvide regular reporting of project performance and status to management and peersMaintain accurate monthly forecasting across assigned projectsProactively manage direct project budgets and indirect department budgetsProvide input to annual budget regarding staffing, indirect spending, etcAttend project turnovers and assess projects for technical, cost, and schedule risks prior to execution team deploymentMake project staffing decisions based on team skills, project priorities, and customer visibilityMaintain utilization for individual contributors and coordinate level-loading of team membersParticipate in pre-sale technical reviews with Sales and Solution Development teamsLook for opportunity to reduce project risks and develop awareness of customer expectations and demandsAnalyzes and understands impact of decisions on business operationsAppraise and recommend changes in current processes or proceduresTeam Growth and Development ResponsibilitiesEffectively recruit, on-board, and integrate new hires into the Project Engineering OrganizationDrive continuous talent development and performance evaluation through completion of formal yearly OCTR (Organization Capability and Talent Review) and Goal Setting processesProvide coaching and mentoring, gap assessment and training, and team member empowermentCreate and maintain a culture of strong integrity, communication and collaboration within the teamSet clear expectations and grow team members to be role-models throughout Dematic and externally with CustomersMaintain a Safety-First culture and a compliance to all company policies and standardsEngage in regular communications: 1-1 meetings, real-time learning/coaching, project team discussions, peer group meetings, and employee feedbackStrategic Implementation and Continuous Improvement ResponsibilitiesBuild effective cross-office location and cross-department relationshipsDrive team engagement and team visibility throughout Dematic and with CustomersMaintain a feedback loop (lessons learned, project variances...etc.) between project execution and Solution Development teams to respond to customer expectations and increase Dematic's competitivenessDrive and support Continuous Improvement and Lean initiatives within the Project Engineering group, and promote a culture of continuous improvementDevelop team and individual goals that align with strategic plan and Engineering DepartmentRecommend changes and improvements where appropriateWhat We are Looking ForBS in Electrical Engineering or related field of engineeringAt least (5) years of demonstrated Engineering Management and/or people leadershipAt least (8) years of material handling and/or logistics automation industry or related experience preferredAbility to work individually and lead with minimal supervision in remote, office, and customer site environmentsKnowledge of CAD design software including AutoCAD is a plusKnowledge of PLCs including Allen-Bradley and/or Rockwell a plus.Ability to solve complex problems and recommend cost-effective solutionsProven communications skills, collaboration, flexibility, and willingness to lead and work as part of a team of solution-oriented professionalsDemonstrated presentation skills, group facilitation, and ability to effectively interact with customersExcellent leadership, teamwork, influencing, and interpersonal skillsExcellent organizational, analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintaining composureTravel approximately 15-25% to Customer or Dematic locationsPositively represent the Engineering organization and Dematic with both internal and external CustomersApplicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
