Essential Duties & Responsibilities:What You’ll Do
As a Controls Estimator, you’ll be responsible for developing accurate and timely cost estimates for projects ranging from small upgrades to large-scale installations. Reporting to the Estimating Supervisor or VP of Preconstruction, your role will include:
- Preparing detailed proposals and cost estimates
- Reviewing construction documents and identifying scope
- Performing takeoffs using specialized software
- Soliciting pricing from vendors and subcontractors
- Attending pre-bid meetings and site inspections
- Supporting change order pricing and project turnover
- Maintaining estimating systems and BIM/design setups
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success
What You Bring
We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in controls estimating and construction, plus the skills to thrive in a collaborative and tech-forward environment.
Experience
- Proven experience in controls estimating
- Ability to interpret technical specs, plans, and contracts
- Broad understanding of controls construction
Skills
- Tech-savvy: Estimating software, Microsoft Office, FTP (training available)
- Strong communicator: Clear, professional verbal and written skills
- Trustworthy: Handles confidential information with integrity
- Organized: Prioritizes tasks and maintains attention to detail
Physical & Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with occasional job site visits
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally
- Job sites may include exposure to noise, particles, and mechanical equipment
