Role Snapshot
Start or advance your career in power generation with a hands-on controls engineering role at Oglethorpe Power.
As a Controls Engineer Associate I or Controls Specialist I, you will work alongside experienced engineers and plant professionals while learning the systems that help keep Georgia's power generation fleet operating safely and reliably. You will gain exposure to control systems, plant equipment, technical projects, commissioning activities, cybersecurity practices, and preventive maintenance programs.
This opportunity may be a strong fit for a recent engineering graduate, a current engineering student with relevant technical experience, or an experienced plant or controls professional looking to continue growing within an engineering organization.

Education & Experience
Candidates may qualify through one of the following paths:
Internships, co-ops, engineering coursework, and hands-on experience with DCS, PLC, electrical, or plant systems are valuable.
Engineer in Training certification is preferred but not required.
Work Environment
This position includes approximately 40% travel, primarily to OPC plant sites and project locations. Some evening, weekend, or after-hours support may be required based on plant and project needs.
The role involves working in industrial environments that may include noise, dust, temperature extremes, confined spaces, elevated work areas, high-voltage equipment, and work near or over water. Employees must be able to use required personal protective equipment and perform the physical duties associated with plant support.
