We are seeking an experienced Controls Technician to support manufacturing operations, automation systems, robotics, equipment integration, troubleshooting, and production improvements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PLC programming, industrial controls, robotics, electrical systems, and automation. Experience working in a manufacturing environment, secondary equipment, or machine building is highly preferred.
This is a hands-on position responsible for troubleshooting, programming, maintaining, integrating, and improving automated manufacturing equipment.
SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITYCore Schedule: 3:00 PM 11:00 PM
This team frequently works weekends and overtime to support production, equipment issues, and project/start-up activities.
The successful candidate must be willing and available to:
Work overtime as needed.
Stay beyond the scheduled shift when required.
Work weekends when necessary.
Respond to calls for technical assistance.
Support equipment start-ups and production needs.
Starting salary: Approximately $70,000/year, depending on experience.
Candidates with strong controls, robotics, PLC, and manufacturing experience may be considered at a higher level based on qualifications.
This position is eligible for overtime.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProgram, troubleshoot, install, configure, and maintain PLC-controlled equipment.
Troubleshoot and maintain automated manufacturing systems.
Test, troubleshoot, and oversee the implementation and integration of new processes and robotics.
Support robot setup, programming, integration, and troubleshooting.
Assist with integrating robots and standard vision systems into existing machines.
Install retrofits and modifications to existing automated systems.
Troubleshoot hardware, instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems.
Support equipment start-up activities.
Respond to production calls for technical assistance.
Perform preventive maintenance and production improvement projects.
Maintain automation processes and generate required reports.
Troubleshoot electrical circuits using schematics, blueprints, and electrical prints.
Read and interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
Assist with automation and equipment projects from installation through start-up.
Travel as needed to support project start-ups and local manufacturing operations.
Maintain compliance with electrical safety, machine guarding, and other applicable safety procedures.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Strong experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC systems is preferred.
Candidates should have experience with:

Controls troubleshooting

Experience with industrial communication networks is highly preferred, including:
EtherNet/IP

Profibus
Knowledge of networks and database operation is also preferred.
ROBOTICS & VISION SYSTEMSRobotics experience is strongly preferred.
Experience with Fanuc robots or similar robotic systems is highly desirable.
Candidates should have experience with:
Robot setup and programming
Fanuc or similar robot controllers
Robot troubleshooting
Robotic integration
Vision system setup and programming
Cameras and scanners
Standard machine vision systems
Robot end-of-arm tooling (EOAT)
Integrating robots into existing manufacturing equipment
Strong understanding of electrical and electro-mechanical control systems, including:
Power distribution as it applies to machine controls
VFDs and servo drive systems
Motors and motor starters
Contactors and relays
Switches and sensors
Optical, inductive, and capacitive sensors
Power supplies and transformers
Electrical control devices
Machine control systems
Electrical safety
Basic to strong knowledge of fluid power systems, including:
Hydraulic controls
Pneumatic controls
Vacuum systems
Hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
Troubleshooting fluid power systems
Knowledge of machine safety and guarding systems is required, including familiarity with:
Light curtains
Area scanners
Bumper strips
Safety switches
Machine guarding devices
Electrical safety systems
Strong hands-on fabrication skills are a plus.
The successful candidate should be capable of assisting with projects such as:
Robot EOAT fabrication
Sensor bracket fabrication
Button installation
Machine guard fabrication
Equipment modifications
Basic mechanical fabrication and installation
Minimum 3 years of controls/automation experience.
2-year technical degree, technical certificate, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
Experience with PLC hardware and software.
Experience with HMI systems.
Experience troubleshooting electrical and automated equipment.
Robot setup and programming experience.
Vision system experience preferred.
Ability to program PLC and robotic controllers.
Ability to read and understand electrical prints.
Ability to read hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
Strong understanding of electricity, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits using schematics and blueprints.
Ability to safely use electrical and mechanical test equipment and tools.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

We are looking for a technically strong, hands-on Controls Technician who can independently troubleshoot problems and keep automated manufacturing equipment running.
The ideal candidate is:
Experienced with PLC programming and troubleshooting
Comfortable working with robots and automated equipment
Strong in electrical troubleshooting
Able to read electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic prints
Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Able to communicate professionally with operators, engineers, maintenance, and management
Able to remain calm and professional when responding to equipment breakdowns or production issues
Willing to work overtime and weekends when needed
Safety-conscious and committed to following established safety procedures
This is a hands-on controls and automation position. Candidates should be prepared to troubleshoot equipment directly, work with PLCs and robotics, support production, and participate in equipment installations, integrations, and start-ups.
Manufacturing experience, secondary equipment experience, machine-building experience, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC experience, and Fanuc robotics experience are all strong advantages.
