BAS Technician – Chicago, IL – $85,000–$110,000 + Benefits + Project-Based Controls Work
About the Opportunity:
A leading provider of building automation and energy management solutions is seeking a skilled BAS Technician to join their growing team in the Chicagoland area. This position supports project-based controls work involving system integration, advanced analytics, and building automation retrofits for commercial and institutional clients.
Position Details:
Title: BAS Technician
Location: Chicago, IL
Salary: $85,000 – $110,000 (open to $120K for senior-level candidates with certifications such as Tridium N4)
Status: Full-Time | 80% Local Travel
Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot, test, and commission building automation systems (Tridium experience required)
Perform point-to-point checkouts and install field-level controllers
Lead or support equipment startup, field terminations, and onsite integration tasks
Modify, optimize, or rewrite BAS programs and sequences of operation
Install, verify, and maintain sensors, actuators, and related control equipment
Collaborate with engineers, contractors, project managers, and facility personnel
Ensure cybersecurity, firmware, and software updates are maintained per client requirements
Ideal Candidate:
Experience as a BAS or Controls Technician in commercial or institutional buildings
Strong working knowledge of Tridium Niagara platforms (N4 preferred)
Self-sufficient in the field with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems
Programming experience is a plus, but not required
Strong communication, documentation, and customer service skills
