Controls Technician III

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Assignment Length: 6 Months, with potential extension

We are seeking a Controls Technician III to support a high-performing maintenance team responsible for maintaining and optimizing PLCs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, and industrial automation equipment. This is an excellent opportunity to work on advanced control systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do
As a Controls Technician III, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving industrial control systems that support daily production.
Responsibilities include:
- Install, configure, and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, instrumentation, and automation equipment
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on industrial control systems
- Calibrate pressure, flow, temperature, and level instrumentation
- Analyze system failures and implement corrective actions
- Support automation upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control drawings
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Operations teams to minimize production downtime
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and system documentation
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures

- Siemens PLCs (preferred)

- Ethernet/IP
- Modbus RTU/TCP
- Profibus

- Wireshark
Maintenance Systems
- Fiix CMMS or similar maintenance management software
Instrumentation
- HART Communicators
- Calibration software
- Diagnostic and programming tools
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of experience working with industrial control systems
- Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs
- Experience troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation systems
- Knowledge of motor control systems and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Experience working with industrial communication networks including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and Profibus
- Ability to work independently and solve complex technical problems
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Education
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent hands-on industry experience will be considered in place of formal education
Preferred
- Manufacturing experience in food, beverage, dairy, or processing facilities
- Strong SCADA development and troubleshooting experience
- Knowledge of process control loops and PID tuning
- Experience using CMMS software
- Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Arc Flash safety practices. Training will be provided.
