Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and dependable team member to support third-shift non-patient meal service operations. This role is responsible for supervising cafeteria staff, preparing hot food items-including cook-to-order grill items-and ensuring all service areas are properly set up and running efficiently. The ideal candidate will ensure food quality, safety, and excellent customer service while completing all third-shift responsibilities.

Location: Lancaster General Hospital, 555 N Duke St, Lancaster, PA

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties

  • Prepare grill items and cook-to-order meals.
  • Prepare and/or reheat soups, entrées, and vegetables to appropriate standards.
  • Serve customers, ensuring correct portion sizes and proper presentation, including garnishes when applicable.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment in compliance with department policies and regulatory standards.
  • Supervise Cafeteria Worker(s) during third shift operations.
  • Ensure all assigned third-shift tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure service areas are properly set up and stocked for efficient operation.
  • Follow and enforce cashiering policies and procedures.
  • Monitor food quality by routinely checking taste, texture, appearance, and temperature.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of food products, utensils, and serviceware.
  • Document required data and submit reports to support effective food service operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in short-order cooking required.
  • Two (2) years of short-order cooking experience preferred.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise others during overnight shifts.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

  • Third shift position.
  • Requires standing for extended periods and working in a kitchen environment.
