Summary:

  • Location: Akron, OH

Responsibilities:

  • Apply food service fundamentals, including sanitation, procurement, product rotation, menu planning, customer service, knife skills, and hygiene.
  • Lead catering needs, soup preparations, and entrée offerings. Prepare convenience items and all salad bar preparations.
  • Perform line cooking in a fast-paced environment; set up, prepare foods to order specifications, and conduct thorough end-of-shift cleaning, including equipment and operational areas and safe food storage.
  • Demonstrate urgency in reaching goals and meeting deadlines.
  • Apply advanced kitchen etiquette for safe and productive operations.
  • Support leadership and coworkers by initiating, designing, and executing process improvements. Continuously develop and improve practices and procedures.
  • Organize and ensure punctuality of all caterings, including working with customers on menu design and logistics.
  • Manage multiple daily tasks and projects or processes simultaneously.
  • Assist with the daily setup and operation of the grill station.
  • Utilize Food Service ordering application and communicate with customers on proper utilization and functionality.
  • Assist in invoice processing for payment.
  • Provide strong customer service and engagement for internal business units and other resources.
  • Recommend and implement solutions to issues and assignments.
  • Seek formal and informal learning opportunities to understand procedures and industry trends.
  • Contribute to solutions by developing alternatives and recommendations, recognizing the need for consistent standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide advice, education, and encouragement to others.
  • Backup for placing weekly orders with vendors for procurement of inventory.
  • Plan weekly cafeteria and catering menus with inventory management.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years relevant work experience.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Exercise independent judgment on projects and assignments.
  • Manager level ServSafe Certified or become certified within six months of hiring.
  • Able to perform physically demanding tasks involving bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds, and walking and standing for extended periods of time.
  • High school diploma or GED required. Culinary or related degree preferred.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
