What You'll Do

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus and standardized recipes
• Ensure meals are prepared accurately for regular, therapeutic, and modified diets
• Prepare pureed and texture-modified foods as needed
• Follow portion control guidelines and maintain food quality standards
• Record food temperatures and ensure food safety compliance
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation areas
• Clean cooking equipment, serving carts, and workstations
• Maintain sanitizer solutions and follow infection control procedures
• Assist with meal service as needed
• Help ensure all cleaning schedules are completed
• Communicate resident concerns and dietary issues to nursing and leadership
• Assist with training dietary staff and provide leadership in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year of cooking experience in a skilled nursing facility, hospital, healthcare, or long-term care setting preferred
• Ability to prepare meals in large quantities while maintaining quality and consistency
• Knowledge of therapeutic and special diets preferred
• Ability to read recipes, menus, and written instructions
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and supervise kitchen operations when needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Current or ability to obtain ServSafe Certification
• Experience with PCC (PointClickCare) preferred
• Must remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health
