    Job Description

    Position Summary:

    The cook is responsible overseeing the daily operational activities regarding preparing meals for clients and assuring the dining area and kitchen are up to food and safety standards. The cook works closely with the program manager and chief operating officer to accomplish the mission and service goals of Aletheia House.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that balanced nutritional meals (dinner) are provided.
    • Ensure that balanced nutritional meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are provided.
    • Ensure that all areas of the kitchen, dining area, pantry, cooking utensils, etc. are clean, neat, organized, and stocked.
    • Order approved supplies and groceries needed to perform essential job duties.
    • Maintain an adequate inventory of all supplies.
    • Ensure that all equipment, furniture, etc. is up to standards and safety codes.
    • Implement a menu that provides adequate nutritional value.
    • Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
    • Prepare meals, snacks, etc. for the agency in regards to special agency functions.
    • Ensure that groceries delivered match inventory list and ensure that all items are stocked away.
    • Take delivery of supplies.
    • Completes required documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Report any program participant issues to program manager
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the program manager

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Excellent writing, communication, organizational and time management skills with knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.

    Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), particularly strong in Excel.

    Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with program managers and staff,

    Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

    Ability to maintain harmonious effective working relationships with other employees.

    Ability to keep sensitive information obtained confidential.

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Food Handlers permit required.
    • Minimum of five years experience preferred but not required.
    • Must be able to speak, read, and understand basic cooking procedures.
    • Understanding the knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.

    Physical Requirements:

    Requires the physical mobility to sit, stand, walk, and bend for moderate periods of time.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:00pm
