Job Summary The Cook for Bistro 549 has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, opening and closing of the Bistro, preparing food to sell, serving and cleaning. This position is also responsible following standardized food recipes. This is a part-time position that reports to LSCPA's Creative Arts and Service Professions Department.
Duties/Responsibilities • Assist with grocery list as needed and purchase necessary supplies at local stores or with approved vendors • Restock items in proper placement upon arrival from store or vendor • Assist with preparation, cooking, garnishing, and clean-up of the Bistro • Responsible for all preparation, cooking, dishwashing, and clean-up of the Bistro • Responsible for the routine daily cleaning with standard cleaning supplies of all applicants, shelving, utensils, counters, freezers, and refrigerators • Assist the Culinary Arts Program Director with receiving all food, beverages, and deliveries, as well as proper storage, labeling, rotation, and cleaning of freezers and refrigerators • Answer telephone calls as necessary • Comply with campus policies and procedures • Other related duties, as assigned
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent • Experience in food preparation and service, with quantity cooking, in a state institution or commercial food service establishment • ServSafe Certification or similar Food Handler's Certification • Valid driver's license
Supplemental Information Physical Requirements: This position requires employees to move to various locations on campus; move about inside a kitchen to access utensils, food service equipment, and appliances.
