This role is responsible for preparing healthy meals for children while ensuring full compliance with USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Georgia Child Care Licensing requirements, local health regulations, and YMCA policies.If you're passionate about nutrition, food safety, and helping children thrive in a positive learning environment, we'd love to hear from you.What You'll DoAs our Cook/CACFP Lead, you will:Plan and prepare nutritious breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and approved special dietary mealsDevelop menus that meet USDA CACFP nutrition standardsMaintain a clean, organized, and sanitary commercial kitchenComplete required CACFP documentation, including:Meal countsProduction recordsMenusAttendance reconciliationDelivery receiptsEnsure meals meet USDA reimbursable meal requirementsOrder food and kitchen supplies while managing inventory and minimizing wasteMonitor food temperatures, storage, labeling, and receiving proceduresMaintain audit-ready CACFP records and assist during state monitoring reviewsMaintain kitchen equipment and report maintenance needsBuild positive relationships with children, families, staff, vendors, and regulatory agenciesParticipate in staff meetings, trainings, emergency drills, and YMCA eventsSupport the YMCA mission and demonstrate the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and ResponsibilityQualificationsWe're looking for someone who has:Minimum age of 213–5 years of institutional or childcare food service experience preferredKnowledge of USDA CACFP regulations, food safety, sanitation, and inventory management preferredStrong organizational and time management skillsExcellent communication skillsAbility to work independently while contributing as a team memberRequired Upon EmploymentPass Georgia criminal history and background checkMaintain CPR, First Aid, AED, and Fire Safety certificationsComplete required Bright from the Start trainingComplete 12 hours of annual Georgia-approved child care trainingPhysical RequirementsThis position requires:Standing for extended periodsFrequent bending, lifting, and carrying up to 50 poundsManual dexterity and safe food handlingAbility to assist children during emergency evacuationsWhy the YMCA?At the YMCA, you'll do more than prepare meals-you'll help nourish children's growth and development every day.
