Position Reports To: Food Service Director, Building Principal, Assistant Superintendent.

Evaluated By: Food Service Director

Position Summary:

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving attractive, nutritionally balanced meals for the children. This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality food production and portion control using standard recipes and for appropriate quantities of food needed to meet menu requirements. The Cook is also responsible; including but not limited to cleaning, sanitizing and heavy lifting. This position also performs a variety of tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and maintaining refrigerators, freezers and storerooms in a neat

and clean order.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Food Preparation and Serving

  • Under direction of the Kitchen Supervisor, plans, prepares and serves attractive and nutritionally

balanced meals for the children, promoting and reinforcing good nutritional habits; trying new foods,

portion control and a balanced diet.

  • Adhere to ingredients, measurements and cooking methods as stated on the recipes to meet the

nutritional requirements.

  • Ensure that food supplies are securely stored.
  • Wearing proper cooking attire (i.e. apron, hat or hair net, gloves, etc.).
  • Using proper dishwashing methods.
  • Cleaning kitchen areas after each meal is served.
  • Assist the Kitchen Manager with ordering food and supplies as necessary.
  • Willing to learn the POS system and depositing money.
  • Must be able to adapt to changes in work duties assigned.
  • May be asked to work in another kitchen for the school district.

Other

  • Attend staff training as necessary or required.
  • Attend appropriate staff meetings as assigned.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:

  • School lunch experience desirable.
  • Any food service experience is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply basic food preparation methods.
  • Ability to maintain all equipment and supplies used in cooking, food preparation, food storage and

cleaning/sanitation in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Ability to adapt to changes (i.e. food substitutions and numbers served).
  • Good written and oral communications skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions in a logical, responsible and compassionate manner.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms including but not limited to moving food in trays to and from warmers and serving lines. The employee is regularly required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.

JOB TITLE: School Custodian

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor, Principal, Assistant Superintendent

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor/Principal, this position is responsible for

performing janitorial duties for Ozark Public Schools as laid out on the performance schedules

for each building. Knowledge or willingness to learn proper cleaning techniques is essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Job responsibilities/functions include performing the daily, biweekly, & weekly maintenance

schedules.

The following are summaries of those tasks:

Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping of flooring.

Clean and sanitize bathrooms.

Restock supplies in bathrooms.

Empty all trash cans and replace liners, clean receptacles as necessary.

Maintain janitorial areas (storage rooms, closets, etc.) in a clean, organized, and safe

manner.

Maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable manner.

Proper dilution and use of all chemicals.

Wearing of proper personal protective equipment at needed times (safety glasses,

gloves, etc)

General maintenance of grounds.

Notify Supervisor concerning the need for repairs to operating systems or equipment.

Requisition supplies and equipment as needed to perform essential functions.

Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after

operating hours.

Other routine maintenance duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing less than fifty

pounds. Moving items over fifty pounds utilizes a team lift or a two wheel dolly.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Good customer service skills.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Ability to work effectively with a team.

Ability to work independently as needed to support the group effort.

Basic knowledge of cleaning products or willingness to learn.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma, GED, or further Technical Training applicable to the job

Six months or more related experience. Mechanical aptitude helpful.

Valid Driver's License required or the willingness to obtain within one fiscal year
