Duties & Responsibilities
- As one of our line cooks, you will be responsible for the precise execution of our dailymenus, ensuring our students, faculty, and monastic community receive nutritious,exceptional meals, including: Prepare, season, and cook a wide variety of hot and cold menu items in accordance withestablished specifications and health standards.
- Manage high-heat sears, oven-finishing, and precise timing during high-volume servicewindows.
- Practice excellent stewardship of resources by monitoring inventory, reducing foodwaste, and maintaining a pristine, sanitary workstation.
- Work collaboratively with prep cooks, utility staff, and stewards to ensure a seamlessservice flow.
- Good communication skills with students and a cheerful attitude.
Qualifications
- We are seeking reliable, skilled professionals who take genuine pride in their craft.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of professional cooking experience in a high-volumescratch kitchen, restaurant, or institutional setting.
- Strong knife skills, a deep understanding of cooking methods (braising, roasting,grilling, sautéing), and the ability to read and scale recipes accurately.
- Certifications: Current Food Handler Cards required.
- Ability to stand for long periods, work efficiently in hot kitchen environments,and lift to 50 lbs.
General Information
- Compensation: Full-Time at $22.00 per hour and Part-Time at $21.00 perhour
- Schedule: Full-Time is Tuesday through Saturday, 42–45 hours per week,and Part-Time is Monday through Friday, 25 hours per week
