Starting Wage Range: $18.86/hr. -$24.07/hr.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares all meals and snacks for residents of both lodges.
- Cleans dining area, kitchen equipment and work areas. Loads and unloads dishwasher and returns equipment to its proper place during and after each meal preparation.
- Maintains standard of sanitation, health, safety, and nutrition.
- Organizes and maintains kitchen areas.
- Conducts periodic deep cleaning in common areas.
- Properly handles, stores, and labels leftover food items.
- Works in conjunction with the department supervisor to coordinate food procurement through outside food vendors.
- Organizes and maintains the pantry area and ensuring it is kept clean.
- Assists with shopping for food items.
- Responsible for all meal preparation, ensures all items needed for the daily menu are ready, and ensures any special arrangements necessary are made.
- Maintains recipe collection of frequent menu items and specialty items of interest.
- Maintains inventory of stock, and monitors expiration dates.
- Communicates any variations in menu or additional food items needed to supervisor.
- Reports any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisor for recommended course of action.
- Assists with recreational cooking activities that may be scheduled.
- Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education, Experience, and Licenses:
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
- Requires a minimum of one (1) year of cooking experience in a regulated environment.
- OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Driving Requirements:
- This position may require driving.
Qualifications,Registrations, and Certifications:
- Requires knowledge of the Privacy Act and its application.
- Requires First Aid/CPR certificate within 180 days of hire.
- Requires food handlers’ card within 30 days of hire.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required.
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
- Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
- Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
- Occasionally requires lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.
- Supports a safe work environment by performing all duties in accordance with Tribal safety policies and procedures, and Emergency Management Plan.
- Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
- May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during emergencies.
- Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
