    Position Title: Career Coordinator

    Department: Career Services

    Reports to: Director of Career and Life Success

    Classification: Exempt

    Schedule: On-campus, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

    The Career Coordinator at Rivier University is a pivotal position within the Career Services department. Your responsibility encompasses the implementation and oversight of comprehensive career development programs. The role includes providing personalized coaching to students and establishing strategic partnerships with employers to enhance the overall career success of our diverse student body.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manage student and employer information, internship data, surveys, resources, and all elements of Handshake.
    • Support students through individualized or group appointments in planning, preparing for, and searching for internships and post-graduation employment. Provide support that is inclusive, comprehensive, and fosters an environment of equity for individuals with varying identities and

    experiences.

    • Develop and present unique, targeted programs and workshops to students, parents, faculty, employers, alumni, and community groups within a variety of settings.
    • Partner effectively with students, student clubs, and campus departments, such as student engagement, community and connections, campus ministry, alumni relations, athletics, counseling center, residence life, etc., to collaborate in developing and supporting career-related initiatives

    across campus.

    • Develop and maintain robust relationships with employers for on-campus recruiting and programming.
    • Regularly review, enhance, and implement career coaching and advising best practices, policies, and procedures, and manage the storage and accessibility of resources.
    • Actively participate in ongoing professional development and training related to current trends in career services, employment, and experiential learning.
    • Support students participating in the Employment Promise Program (EPP) by scheduling regular meetings to monitor and assess progress towards program completion.

    • Become an expert in areas such as job search strategies, resumes, cover letters, interview and networking skills, Handshake & LinkedIn profiles, offer management, salary negotiations, professional communication, and graduate school applications.
    • Acquire and maintain advanced user expertise in using online career development resources: Websites, Handshake, LinkedIn, PartyRock, Career One Stop, O*NET, etc.
    • Maintain industry knowledge of potential career paths and current recruiting practices and timelines as related to specific majors.
    • Research peer, competitor, and innovative coaching, programming, and resources to continually enhance and improve the availability and delivery of services.

    Qualifications

    Supervision Received: Direct supervision from the Director of Career and Life Success, complemented by indirect supervision from the Vice President for Student Experience.

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Full-time, 52 weeks per year. Some evenings and weekends are required.

    Travel: Some travel for events occasionally (minimal).

    Qualifications: This position requires a bachelors degree in business, Education, Counseling, Human Resources or a closely related field preferred. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience developing, promoting, and managing internship/experiential learning opportunities for students in a higher education environment. The position requires a dynamic individual with strong verbal and written communication skills, a commitment to inclusive excellence, and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, alumni, families, employers, faculty, and staff.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Self-starter, ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to advocate for and support the Universitys academic,

    personal, and professional needs.

    • Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff and maintain collegial relations.
    • Flexibility and adaptability in an emerging and changing environment.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information.
    • Computer skills and proficiency with a variety of computer applications including word-processing, and reporting platforms, as well as online calendaring and email (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Canvas).
    • Exhibit familiarity with the Handshake Career Services Platform
