PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Direct and manage the Afterschool At Risk Meal Program (CACFP) including compliance, planning, implementing and auditing all aspects of the program. The school nutrition program (SNP) must provide reasonable accommodations for reimbursable meals when a student's disability restricts his/her diet and the disability is supported by a medical statement signed by a medical authority that is licensed by the State to write medical prescriptions. Responsibilities include accommodating students with medical disabilities and special dietary needs to incorporate the USDA guidance, including planning and implementing student special diets orders, training employees, planning, assisting, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Assists with the supervision of the operation of the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Department and ensures compliance with federal, state, and district regulations and policies. Assumes lead role in the food service operations in the absence of the Assistant Food Service Director.

QUALIFICATION:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition, dietetics, or food service management.
  • Master's degree in foods and nutrition, dietetics, food service management, or related fields (preferred)
  • Registered Dietitian credentialed with the Commission of Dietetic Registration (required)
  • Current Food Handler/Food Manager Certification (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of menu planning, food purchasing and quality food preparation.
  • Knowledge of K-12 food service software including point of sale and back office management modules.
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations pertaining to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles.

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of managerial experience in a K-12 school district food service environment or clinical dietetic setting (preferred)

SALARY: Contingent on Experience
