Summary
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Coordinator to join our education/municipal team in Dallas, TX. The Coordinator assists the Superintendent in coordinating subcontractors and/or supervises trade workers at the project site. This individual plans, directs and coordinates activities to ensure continuous installation of materials with the level of quality determined by the contract documents for both interior finish and exterior work on the project. The Coordinator reports to the appropriate level of Superintendent and is the link between Balfour Beatty Construction and the subcontractors. 30 hours of OSHA training once every four years or maintain STS certification.
Essential Functions
Project Financial Responsibilities
- Monitors the schedule of work for each assigned subcontractor and ensures the proper methods and materials are being installed in accordance with the contract requirements. Reports discrepancies to the subcontractor and our Superintendent.
Project Start-up and Scheduling
- Attains a thorough understanding of contract drawings, specifications, and scope of work and requirements of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Coordinates subcontractor's coordination drawings and assures all trades are involved in the process. Familiar with RFI's, RFP's, and CO's that affect the original contract work and verify subcontractors are in compliance.
Project Administration, Operations and Close-out
- Coordinates problems and solutions related to interior or exterior work between the trades.
- Reviews the installed work for compliance with the submittals and contract documents.
- Knowledgeable of safety hazards and works closely with subcontractors to maintain high level of safety awareness.
- Assists the Superintendent in communicating with subcontractors a consistent level of expectations and direction regarding schedules, construction methods, safety, quality control and other performance standards.
- Coordinates the schedule and receipt of finish materials, including studs, Mechanical/Electrical/ Plumbing (MEP) rough-in, drywall, tape & bed, painting, ceiling finishes, glass and glazing, doors and frames, flooring, millwork, specialties, etc.
- Ensures the proper flow-line and sequence of work is being followed by the subcontractors to allow production of work, coordination of installation and damage to finish work is prevented.
- Assists Superintendent in the pre-final inspections of the work prior to the punch list and ensures a timely project closeout process is followed prior to final inspection.

Working Conditions
- The majority of work is completed on job sites in an office trailer or in an existing structure. Due to daily condition changes on construction projects, when employees are outside of the office trailer or structure, they must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the companys safety policies and as required for weather conditions.
- The project team and/or team members may need to move to other projected work geographic locations, if necessary.
Education, Experience and Knowledge
- Provide evidence of a high school diploma or its equivalent (G.E.D.) with 2 to 4 years of experience working in the field on a construction project. Depending upon the project size, scope, and complexity, the years of experience may vary.
- New hires are required to sign up for OSHA courses and complete them within the first six months of employment.
- Able to read and write and able to communicate instructions to workers in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form.
- Acts in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and the employees, while maintaining constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
- Ability to organize people, tools, and equipment and plan/manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results.
