Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Coordinator, Davie Student Union & Campus Life - Davie, FL.

The Coordinator, Davie Student Union and Campus Life position works to provide comprehensive and integrated campus life events and programs, services and facilities that challenge and support FAU students through the promotion of academic success and student development.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Work with Student Government/Student Organizations/External Groups/Departments to meet their building facilities needs

• Ensure all online and paper forms are completed for space use on Broward Campuses, including but not limited to: Owl Central, Facility Use Permits, EMS, R25, etc.

• Assemble reports for assessment of use of space, including but not limited to collecting and analyzing data as appropriate related to facility use and program attendance.

• Serve as a liaison between the Davie Student Union, Broward Administration, and the University Community for building access.

• Communicate with event space requestors and advisors to ensure reservations are completed and set up in accordance with the desired use provided by the facility use permit and setup sheets.

• Serve as primary liaison to Campus Police, physical plant, food service, audio visual, custodial staff, visitors, and event patrons.

• Make frequent rounds of the building conducting facilities assessment to include handling and reporting building operational problems; heating, cooling, damage, etc.

• Coordinates Davie Student Union Advisory Board Meetings along with the student Chair and Secretary.

• Enforce University policies and regulations within the building.

• Enforce Davie Student Union policies, as well as health, fire, and safety regulations.

• Work closely with the Police to help ensure the safety of the facility, users, and visitors.

• Organize and maintain spaces under oversight to ensure a welcoming environment.

• Interpret policy and make decisions about problems outside of policy.

• Serve as the primary supervisor to the Student Union Operations Managers, facilitating all aspects of their employment, including hiring, training, staff development, and day-to-day management.

• Plan and implement Student Union events with specific attention to programs, including and not limited to Davie Student Union Week and Food for Thought.

• Advise COSO (Council of Student Organizations) and all related programming, including increasing the number of registered student organizations and honor societies on the Broward campuses and ensuring registered student organization officers are well aware of accounting and budgeting procedures, and develop an accountability plan to ensure compliance

• Plan, implement, and assess Campus Life programming on the Davie, Ft. Lauderdale, and Dania Beach campuses, including and not limited to Red & Blue Weeks, It's On Us Week, Domestic Violence Awareness Week, and other programming related to strategic goals and learning outcomes for students.

• Plan, implement, and provide support to all Student Government elections initiatives.

• Advise Judicial Branch Associate Justice.

• Maintain Inventory for Beyond Food Program.

• Oversee Coconut Cove student lounge, including creating a welcoming environment for any student, hosting programs in the space, and monitoring the Serenity Room space for supplies & use.

• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student staff/intern(s) for the Coconut Cove Student Lounge

• Assist with planning and implementation of open houses, welcome events, and other related events to the admissions, recruitment, and retention of students.

• Contribute to the development and execution of the unit’s strategic plan. Keep abreast of best and common practices and national trends as it relates to Student Affairs, Student Unions and Campus Life.

• Provide program support and coordination to the Davie campus Transfer Student Orientation Program and Campus Life on the Broward campuses.

• May provide support to any area under the Campus Life umbrella.

• Serve as Essential Personnel: Responsible for crisis management and emergency protocol within the Davie Student Union facility and other Student Affairs’ facilities as needed.

• Perform other job-related assigned by the Associate Director of Campus Life or appropriate senior administrator.

Minimum Qualifications:

A master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.

Salary:

$48,000 - $51,500 annually.
