This position is in-person with an annually approved college-wide remote work agreement.
POSITION SUMMARY:
As a member of the Engineering Student Success Center (ESSC) team, provide career advising and professional development programming to engineering students. Work with College faculty and campus offices to support student career development and employment outcomes. Support employer engagement activities and serve as a point of contact for employers, alumni, and industry partners seeking to engage with the College. Participate in College and University events related to prospective and current students.
Duties and Responsibilities
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Career advising
Provide group and individual career advising to undergraduate engineering students.
Support students in career exploration, internship and job search strategies, and professional development planning.
Develop and maintain scalable career readiness resources and programming to support engineering students.
Teach a career preparation course for engineering students (ITR 300).
Academic and Campus Collaboration
Work collaboratively as a member of the Engineering Student Success Center (ESSC) team, including coordination with the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and other team members to support student success initiatives.
Develop and maintain working relationships with academic departments to support awareness of discipline-specific career pathways and opportunities.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote career services, internships, and employer engagement opportunities.
Coordinate with campus offices supporting career development and experiential learning.
Participate in College and University events supporting prospective and current students, including admission events, orientation, student fair, and commencement activities.
Employer, Industry, and Alumni Engagement
Serve as a point of contact for employers, alumni, and industry partners interested in engaging with the College of Engineering.
Support employer engagement activities in collaboration with university career services, including career fairs, recruitment events, and information sessions.
Organize networking events, employer panels, and other employer-facing programming for the college.
Facilitate connections between employers/industry partners and student organizations, faculty, and academic programs as appropriate.
Engage alumni as mentors, speakers, and recruitment partners to support student career outcomes.
Data, Reporting, and Assessment
Collect, maintain, and analyze data related to student career outcomes and employer engagement activities.
Prepare reports and summaries to support College and University reporting needs.
Track student participation in career programming and employer engagement activities.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Represent the College on committees and working groups as assigned.
Participate in College and University initiatives related to student success and career development.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers, printers; word processing, database management and spreadsheet software.
Required Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in career services, student advising, recruiting, employer relations, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience working with undergraduate and/or graduate student populations.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate programs and events.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups/populations.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED:
Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or related field.
Experience working with STEM or engineering students.
Experience engaging employers, alumni, or industry partners in a higher education or recruiting context.
Experience teaching, training, or facilitating workshops or presentations.
Familiarity with career services platforms and student success systems.
