    Description

    Position Summary:

    This is responsible for assisting with the overall function of prospective student-athlete recruitment, admissions processes, initial eligibility, orientations, and Bridge programming while also ensuring that coaches, new student-athletes, and their families receive comprehensive communication about student-athletes' transition to Vanderbilt. Additionally, this position will hold responsibilities in Student Services and will support their assigned team(s) in all areas of academics.

    Key Functions and Expected Performance:

    Enrollment and Transitions responsibilities:

    • Serve as the main point of contact for multiple teams in all recruitment, enrollment, and transitions operations

    • Manage any necessary initial academic assessments, Admissions processes, and monitor progress in Slate for all assigned teams. This process applies to all incoming freshmen and incoming undergraduate student-athletes

    • Assist with the graduate level transition process by providing information to the student-athlete about the departments' admissions process for all assigned teams and serve as the liaison for those graduate programs through the admissions process

    • Assist current student-athletes who will be continuing to a graduate program with applying and transitioning to their new program for all assigned teams

    • Assist with Initial Eligibility Process by tracking student-athlete progress, communicating with coaches, and working closely with the NCAA Eligibility Center and Athletics Compliance

    • Assist coaching staffs of assigned teams with on-campus recruiting process by coordinating and executing presentations and meetings with recruits and families and leading campus tours as requested

    • Serve as the liaison to various university campus offices such as University Admissions, Residential Colleges, University Registrar's Office, Vanderbilt University Dean's Offices, and various Graduate Programs

    • Assist with new student programing at all entry points (Fall, Spring, Summer) including Ingram Center Bridge Programming, Family-focused orientation, and Student-Athlete move-in operations

    Student Services Responsibilities:

    • Has opportunity to serve as the student services coordinator for multiple Olympic sports teams and support the current student-athletes in all things related to their academic journey

    • Responsible for monitoring academic progress and providing academic counseling and support services as needed

    • Meet regularly with assigned caseload, including weekly meetings with first-year student-athletes as well as those in danger of not meeting good academic standing

    • Report academic progress to coaches and sport administrators

    • Check classes for attendance

    • Assist in tracking student-athletes' compliance with NCAA academic eligibility and progress towards Vanderbilt University degree requirements

    • Alert professors and/or deans to absences due to university-sanctioned travel to athletic events, medical procedures or illnesses, deaths in the family or other extenuating circumstances that may constitute a missed class

    • Monitor evening study halls as assigned

    • Comply with all NCAA and SEC rules and regulations

    • Work in conjunction with the department's compliance office to stay current on all rules and regulations to ensure we are operating with the highest level of integrity

    • Collaborate on efforts associated with the goals of Ingram Center for Student-Athlete Success

    • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director

    Supervisory Relationships:

    This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility. Administratively, this position reports to the Assistant AD for Enrollment and Transitions. Functionally, this position has a dual report to the Assistant AD for Enrollment and Transitions and Assistant AD for Student Services.

    Education and Certifications:

    • A Bachelor's degree is necessary.

    • A Master's Degree is preferred.

    Experience and Skills:

    • Previous experience with athletic compliance and/or admission processes is preferred.

    • Previous experience with Division I academic counseling is preferred.

    • Organized, detail-oriented, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision is necessary.

    • Knowledge of NCAA and SEC rules and regulations is necessary.
