Coordinator, HR Compliance

Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating the centralized processing of unemployment claims and background screening, analyzing HR developments, and making recommendations on HR related matters. This position will support the HR department in carrying out human resources functions in compliance with company policy, state and federal laws and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

  • Serve as first point of contact for pre-employment screening and HR Compliance related inquiries from throughout the business.
  • Review background screening results, motor vehicle reports, and drug test results to ensure applicants meets company hiring criteria, following up with the applicant, courthouse, and/or vendor to research further, where necessary. Contact applicant if background check standards are not met to inform them of pre-adverse and appeal process.
  • Maintain working knowledge of federal and various state employment and HR related laws. Monitors and analyzes legal changes, then submits recommendations to ensure compliance. Communicates HR Compliance related developments to the appropriate business. Provides guidance in appropriate application of HR policies, processes, and procedures to various departments throughout the business.
  • Coordinate process and policy audits leading to best practice operations and cost savings. Challenge processes and/or policies and makes recommendations for process and policy improvement.
  • Coordinate labor law poster compliance by coordinating with the vendor, and coordinating updates and audits, where needed. Coordinates minor employment law compliance and immigration law compliance.
  • Serve as first point of contact for handbook and policy updates, coordinating annual review and assembling review timeline. Ensure compliance in the employee handbook and company policies.
  • Ensure all vendor invoices are paid in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 2+ years of experience in an HR position.

Education: High School diploma is required. Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field is preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Professional in demeanor and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects.
  • Detail orientation and analytical demeanor while maintaining timeliness and accuracy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to discreetly handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply experience to role and responsibilities.
