Departmental Overview

At UC Berkeley's School of Public Health (UCBPH), health equity and social justice are part of our DNA. For more than 75 years, we've been pushing boundaries and challenging the status quo. The Interdisciplinary Center for Healthy Workplaces (ICHW) applies multi-disciplinary science to promote worker health, safety, well-being, and productivity. The center acts as a hub for research, tools, and partnerships focusing on modern work environments.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, the Center Coordinator works closely with faculty, staff, affiliates, partners, and donors to advance the work program and research agendas across the various initiatives. This position supports project management, fundraising, event planning, and communications.

Responsibilities

Project Management - 25%

• Manage and coordinate projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project plans and budgets. This includes managing students, tracking project milestones, managing resources, and resolving issues.

Communications and Outreach - 25%

• Develop and disseminate findings through various channels, including research briefs, blog posts, and presentations. This involves crafting clear and engaging content to communicate complex research ideas to a diverse audience.

Administrative Support - 25%

• Handle administrative tasks such as grant submissions, contracting mechanisms (staff, students, POs, etc.), and reimbursements. This also involves the development of ICHW's administrative systems and templates for enhancing operational efficiency and managing students.

Research Support - 10%

• Provide initial analysis for research projects, prepare research materials, and assist with data presentation and analysis. This includes supporting faculty and researchers in designing research studies, collecting and cleaning data, and interpreting findings.

Event Planning - 10%

• Support the organization of events, workshops, and seminars, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders. This includes managing logistics, speaker recruitment, and participant engagement, including travel budgets and reimbursements using the appropriate UC systems.

Other duties as assigned - 5%

• Other duties as assigned, including participating in workshops, trainings, and other professional development activities; may participate in committees, projects, and other service activities.

Required Qualifications

• Prior project management and/or program management experience.
• Experience working independently and taking initiative, and in team environments.
• Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
• Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
• Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize data with strong attention to detail.
• Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.

Education / Training

• Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The budgeted hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $33.00/hr - $43.00/hr.

• This is a non-exempt, bi-weekly paid position.
• This is a full-time (40 hours/week) Career position eligible for UC benefits.

• This position is eligible for up to 2 days/week of remote work within the United States. Exact arrangements are determined in partnership with your supervisor to meet role responsibilities and department needs and are subject to change.
• This is not a visa opportunity. This position does not include sponsorship of a new consular H-1B visa petition that would require payment of the $100,000 supplemental fee.
• This position is covered by the collective bargaining agreement between UAW (United Auto Workers) and the University of California Regents for Research and Public Service Professionals (RP).
