Responsible for developing internship opportunities with local businesses and the public sector to provide students with career exploration activities to confirm their educational plans or to gain practical experience and develop industry contacts to transition from school to work upon graduation. Coordinate workplace skills seminars, internship and job fairs, and other activities to prepare students for employment and work-based experiences. Provide online resources for graduates/alumni to connect with employers regarding workforce opportunities. This position in part supports Goal 4: Partner with the Community.

Essential Job Functions
Description of Job Function
Identifies and develops internship opportunities with businesses and the community for Valencia students.
Develops tools and provides resources to students to assist them in obtaining internships and job opportunities.
Conducts individual and group meetings to explain internship services and procedures
Works collaboratively with staff, faculty, program directors, deans, advisory committees, career program advisors, academic advisors, and other constituents in cultivating and maintaining relationships with employers to remain abreast of their workforce needs and how Valencia can address those needs. Also, works with these groups to develop activities to help students connect with employers.
Attends and participates in employer-based activities (i.e. Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Commission, private businesses, etc.) to promote the use of Valencia's Internship & Workforce Services.
Manages all functions and aspects of a campus-based internship and placement office including staff assistant supervision and office and budget management.
Develops and implements marketing strategies to recruit and promote awareness of Program to students, faculty and employers.
Manages a college-wide internet-based internship and job tracking system whereby employers post open positions for student and graduates to view.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelors degree in business, human resources, counseling, human relations, or related field.

Ability to research information, and analyze and interpret a variety of data to identify trends and draw valid conclusions.

Some local travel and occasional overnight travel to attend meetings, events or conferences.

General Working Conditions
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and within the community staffed by professional and student staff members. The individual in this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets, die cut machines, laminators, and fax machines. Some position responsibilities require tasks outside of the office, in either a classroom setting, programming venue, or outdoors.
While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 25 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
