Position Summary:

Neonatal Outreach Coordinator/Educator:

The Regional Perinatal Program for East TN is part of a State Grant Funded Program located at UT Medical Center. As the designated Regional Perinatal Center for the East TN region we provide education to support all regional pre-hospital, clinical and hospital settings free of cost; focusing on professional education classes and realistic emergency drills that are conducted throughout the region using a range of simulation equipment, following evidence-based guidelines.

Job Description: The Neonatal Outreach Coordinator enhances professional practice and the provision of quality patient care by providing evidence-based educational programs and simulations. The Neonatal Outreach Coordinator plans, organizes, develops and directs all regional neonatal education for our 19 outlying East Tennessee counties. This includes providing data and statistics at a state level.

As a Neonatal Outreach Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with nursing staff at facilities and other disciplines, in the outlying region, at all levels in the development, implementation, and evaluation of education programs and services.
  • Assisting in the creation of educational tools and training based on identified needs in the region.
  • Assessment and recommendations for future education and equipment needs for all pre-hospital disciplines.
  • Travel to 19 outlying counties - supporting their needs and bringing education to their facilities; providing didactic and hands on simulation education to MDs, RNs, RTs, EMS/Paramedics, AAPs, Fire/Police, First Responders etc. as needed.
  • Overseeing training/performance of new and existing staff and providing specific feedback and mentorship.
  • Supporting the State & Regional levels in assistance with policies, protocols and needed improvements

Position Qualification:

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Active TN nursing license or compact state

Bachelor's Nursing required

NRP Instructor required

STABLE Instructor preferred; willing to obtain immediately

NICU experience required

Travel within 19 counties and work/teach independently
