REPORTS TO: Superintendent/ or designee JOB GOAL: The Coordinator of Community Engagement, Communications & Public Relations is responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships among the Pleasantville Public School District, students, families, staff, community organizations, businesses, municipal agencies, and the media.The Coordinator serves as a primary liaison between the District and the community-at-large and provides direct support to the Superintendent in communicating the District's mission, vision, programs, accomplishments, initiatives, events, and priorities. The Coordinator promotes the District's positive accomplishments through the website, social media, newsletters, press releases, photographs, videos, community outreach, and other approved communication platforms. The Coordinator also strengthens family engagement, develops community partnerships, identifies resources, and connects families with appropriate services. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Family, Parent & School EngagementDevelop and implement a comprehensive parent, family, and community engagement plan aligned with District priorities.Coordinate with parent liaisons, family workers, Early Childhood, Truancy, administrators, and other appropriate personnel to strengthen family engagement.Maintain effective communication with students, families, staff, administrators, and community members.Develop programs, activities, and events that encourage parent participation and positive school-community relationships.Assess family and community needs through surveys, feedback, and other appropriate methods.Monitor engagement activities and provide the Superintendent with updates, concerns, outcomes, and recommendations.Assist families in identifying and accessing appropriate community services and resources.Address parent and community concerns by directing individuals to appropriate District personnel or established procedures.Conduct authorized home visits when appropriate to support family engagement and student success.Research and recommend effective family and community engagement practices.2. Communications, Public Relations & District BrandingDevelop and maintain a positive public image and consistent professional identity for the District.Promote District programs, services, accomplishments, educational opportunities, events, and priorities.Identify and publicize positive stories highlighting students, staff, schools, athletics, clubs, programs, partnerships, and District initiatives.Maintain a communications calendar and coordinate the collection of photographs, videos, achievements, recognitions, and event information.Manage and update the District website and approved social media platforms.Prepare news releases, announcements, newsletters, feature stories, promotional materials, and other public communications.Coordinate appropriate photography and video coverage of District events.Maintain an organized digital library of approved communication materials.Assist schools and departments with professional communications and promotional materials.Ensure all public communications are accurate, timely, professional, consistent, and aligned with District policy and the Superintendent's direction.3. Community Relations, Partnerships & MediaServe as the primary liaison between the District and community-at-large.Build and maintain relationships with businesses, civic and nonprofit organizations, social service agencies, governmental agencies, and other community partners.Develop partnerships that provide resources, services, opportunities, and experiences for students and families.Promote community understanding and support of District programs and initiatives.Maintain professional relationships with local newspapers, television, radio, digital media, and other news organizations.Prepare media communications and coordinate appropriate media coverage with approval of the Superintendent or designee.Attend District and community events and represent the Superintendent or District when authorized.Promote positive relationships among parents, students, staff, administrators, and community members.4. Resources, Grants & Program DevelopmentAssist the Superintendent and administration in identifying funding opportunities, grants, sponsorships, community resources, and in-kind support.Identify and maintain information regarding community programs and services available to students and families.Assist in developing programs and initiatives based on District and community needs.Monitor engagement and partnership initiatives and recommend improvements.5. Superintendent Support & District RepresentationServe as a key communications, public relations, and community engagement resource to the Superintendent.Assist in communicating District priorities, initiatives, accomplishments, programs, and public information.Provide regular updates regarding community concerns, parent engagement, media coverage, public relations activities, and partnerships.Prepare reports, presentations, communications, and informational materials as requested.Represent the Superintendent and/or District at authorized meetings and events.Assist with communication strategies for special initiatives, events, emergencies, and other District priorities.Maintain confidentiality and ensure communications comply with District policies, applicable laws, student privacy requirements, and Superintendent direction.6. Social Media & Digital CommunicationsMaintain an active, professional, and positive District presence on approved social media platforms.Establish a consistent schedule for communicating District news, accomplishments, events, and activities.Highlight student achievements, academic programs, athletics, arts, extracurricular activities, staff accomplishments, awards, partnerships, and special events.Coordinate with principals and department leaders to obtain accurate and timely information.Monitor website and social media engagement and provide periodic reports to the Superintendent.Ensure photographs, videos, and student-related content comply with District policies and applicable permissions.Monitor public comments and inquiries and refer matters requiring administrative attention to the appropriate administrator.7. Accountability & Professional ResponsibilitiesEstablish measurable annual goals for communications, public relations, family engagement, and community outreach.Track website activity, social media engagement, media coverage, parent participation, community partnerships, and other appropriate measures.Provide periodic reports to the Superintendent and recommend improvements.Maintain professional relationships and exercise sound judgment, discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.Attend evening and weekend District or community events as needed.Report matters requiring administrative attention in accordance with District policies and applicable law.Perform other duties consistent with the position as assigned by the Superintendent.
