Coordinator of Elementary Curriculum & Instruction

REPORTS TO: Chief Academic Officer
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer, the Coordinator of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction provides leadership, coordination, and support for the development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of elementary curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning initiatives. The coordinator collaborates with school and district personnel to promote high-quality instructional practices, ensure alignment with district and state priorities, and improve student achievement for all elementary students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master''s Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field
- Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience
- Experience in curriculum development, instructional coaching, professional learning, or educational leadership preferred
- Experience in elementary education required
- North Carolina educator licensure required

- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of elementary curriculum, instructional best practices, assessment systems, MTSS, and school improvement processes
- Ability to analyze and interpret student achievement data to support instructional decision-making
- Ability to facilitate professional learning and lead continuous improvement efforts
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Curriculum and Instruction
- Serves as a district resource and leader in matters related to elementary curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school improvement
- Supports the implementation of state standards, district curriculum, and instructional initiatives in grades PreK-5
- Coordinates curriculum review, evaluation, adoption, and implementation processes for elementary programs
- Assists with the selection, implementation, and evaluation of instructional resources and supplemental programs
- Collaborates with district departments to ensure alignment among curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning initiatives
Professional Learning
- Coordinates and facilitates professional learning opportunities for elementary teachers, instructional coaches, and school-based staff
- Supports the development and implementation of district professional development plans
- Collaborates with instructional coaches and school leaders to strengthen instructional practices and student outcomes
- Assists with onboarding and support for new teachers and instructional staff
Assessment and Accountability
- Analyzes, interprets, and communicates student performance data to support instructional improvement efforts
- Assists schools in utilizing assessment data to improve teaching and learning
- Supports district assessment initiatives, accountability measures, and state reporting requirements
- Develops reports, presentations, and recommendations related to student achievement and instructional effectiveness
Program Coordination
- Coordinates assigned elementary instructional programs and initiatives
- Monitors implementation of curriculum and instructional programs and provides support to schools as needed
- Serves as a liaison with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and other educational agencies regarding assigned programs
- Assists with the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of grant-funded and special instructional programs
- Supports literacy, mathematics, MTSS, early learning, Read to Achieve, and other elementary initiatives as assigned
Communication and Collaboration
- Communicates effectively with district staff, families, community partners, and stakeholders regarding elementary instructional programs and initiatives
- Develops and distributes informational materials related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Responds to inquiries and concerns related to assigned programs and services
- Represents the district on committees, task forces, and professional organizations as assigned
- Attends district, regional, and state meetings relevant to assigned responsibilities
Administrative Responsibilities
- Assists with the development and monitoring of budgets for assigned programs and initiatives
- Provides timely communication regarding matters that may impact instructional programs and services
- Supports strategic planning and implementation efforts led by the Chief Academic Officer
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve-month position. Salary and benefits established by the Rockingham County Board of Education.
