Job Duties

Responsibility / Duty

Greek Life Coordination

Policy, Governance, & Compliance

  • Compliance & Assessment: Conduct ongoing qualitative and quantitative assessments to ensure strict compliance with the reporting and procedural requirements of Nicholls State University, the University of Louisiana System, and governing national organizations. Review, complete, and submit all required university and national office reports.
  • Accountability & Student Development: Enforce accountability and risk management policies among chapters and their members, balancing disciplinary standards with the spirit of holistic student development.
  • Risk Management & Safety: Educate, advise, and monitor chapters regarding risk management, safety protocols, and compliance with all university policies. Manage the review, approval, and processing of campus activity requests and off-campus forms.
  • Legal & Industry Standards: Stay abreast of legal, regulatory, and higher education changes impacting Greek Life; make recommendations for policy improvements and campus compliance.

Leadership, Strategic Growth, & Council Support

  • Strategic Direction: Carry out specialized tasks, programming, and strategic goals at the direction of the Coordinator of Strategic Greek Initiatives.
  • Greek Councils & Chapter Advising: Provide direct oversight, guidance, and administrative support to all Greek Councils, campus advisors, and individual chapters.
  • Student Leadership Development: Facilitate leadership development training and advise students on civic engagement, values-based development, and the cultivation of volunteer initiatives.
  • Strategic Growth: Assist chapters with strategic growth, sustainability, and building community partnerships to maintain a highly visible, positive presence within both the internal and external Nicholls State University communities.

Operations, Logistics, & Software Management

  • Operations & Scheduling: Coordinate the logistical operations of the Greek Life office, including the scheduling of events and managing venue reservations for chapter and council activities.
  • Software Management: Utilize and manage specialized campus and Greek life software management platforms to track student rosters, monitor compliance, approve events, and maintain accurate departmental data.
  • Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate, compliant, and complete accounting records related to all Greek financial matters, budgets, and transactions.

Recruitment, Marketing, & Communication

  • Recruitment & Marketing: Advise chapters on recruitment strategies and organize all Greek Life marketing materials, including recruitment brochures and publications targeting parents and prospective students.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact and maintain proactive communication with national/regional offices, alumni, university departments, and external stakeholders.
  • Community Representation: Represent the Greek community at university events, community activities, recruitment showcases, and major Greek Life traditions (e.g., Greek Week activities).

Percentage Of Time 55 Responsibility / Duty

Student Compliance

  • Implement, facilitate, and provide oversight of required sexual misconduct prevention (Title IX, Campus SaVE, PBV), Hazing prevention, and AOD education and prevention efforts for students
  • Work directly with the online education vendor
  • Maintain completion statistics
  • Provide all follow-through and reminders for completion
  • Serve as the Chair of the AOD Task Force
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across campus to maintain data related to AOD and sexual misconduct outreach and prevention education
  • Prepare and submit federal and state compliance materials related to AOD
  • Assist, where appropriate in preparing federal and state compliance materials related to sexual misconduct, AOD, and hazing

Greek Facilities & Strategic Initiatives

  • Strategic Planning & Development: Collaborate on the long-term planning, design, and development of Greek housing, dedicated campus spaces, and specialized strategic initiatives.
  • Project Management & Execution: Implement operational tasks, support the management of project timelines, participate in steering meetings, and represent Greek Life for facilities and strategic projects at the direction of the Coordinator of Strategic Greek Initiatives (via the VPSA).
  • Fundraising & Donor Relations: Maintain an active role in advancing fundraising campaigns and capital development projects dedicated to the expansion and improvement of Greek spaces.

Develops and implements departmental annual goals that are consistent with and support the strategic plan of the university and the annual goals of the division of Student Affairs.

Minimum Experience Required

Core Knowledge & Skills

  • Greek Life & Risk Management: Demonstrated knowledge of fraternity/sorority community structures (governing councils, recruitment practices, and national organization operations) and experience enforcing accountability, risk management protocols, and safety compliance.
  • Higher Education Compliance: Proven ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative assessments, interpret complex institutional policies, and maintain compliance with university, system-wide, and national governing regulations.
  • Operations & Software Proficiency: High proficiency in utilizing modern workplace technology and specialized higher education/Greek life software management platforms (e.g., Anthology, Engage, Maxient, or similar roster and event tracking systems).
  • Financial & Budgetary Management: Experience maintaining accurate, compliant accounting records, managing departmental or organizational budgets, and handling financial transactions.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Student Development & Advising: Strong commitment to holistic student development with a proven ability to advise student leaders, facilitate leadership training, and foster interpersonal relationships within a diverse campus environment.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with a track record of effectively collaborating and building partnerships with diverse constituents, including university leadership, faculty advisors, national headquarters staff, and alumni.
  • Project Management & Adaptability: Excellent administrative and organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines, and support long-term strategic projects (such as facilities planning or fundraising initiatives).

Minimum Education Required

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Psychology or Sociology, Business Administration, Communication, or a closely related field, plus five (5) years of professional experience in student affairs, Greek life administration, or student organization oversight.
  • Alternative: Master's degree in a related field plus two (2) years of professional experience in the areas listed above.

Minimum Licenses Required Other Minimum Requirements

Excellent skills with computer application including MS Office and social media platforms.

Test(s) Required Preferred Education

  • Master's degree and five years of experience in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Active involvement or professional membership in relevant student affairs or fraternity/sorority housing associations (e.g., AFA, NASPA, ACPA).

Preferred Experience

Advanced Greek Life & Council Expertise

  • Multi-Council Experience: Three (3) or more years of professional experience directly advising a diverse Greek community, with demonstrated, hands-on experience working with all three major councils: Interfraternity Council (IFC), National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC).
  • Industry Best Practices: Deep, demonstrated knowledge of current national trends, legal rulings, and risk management best practices (e.g., HazingPrevention.org frameworks, Title IX implications) affecting fraternity and sorority life.

Systems, Operations, & Facilities

  • Recruitment Software Proficiency: Direct experience utilizing ICS (Information Control Systems) or similar specialized sorority/fraternity recruitment software to manage formal intake and recruitment processes.
  • Strategic & Capital Projects: Prior experience or familiarity assisting with Greek housing operations, facility management, capital development projects, or coordinating with university advancement/alumni for fundraising initiatives.
