Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The College is a dynamic learning organization that serves as a Germanna regional leader and preferred partner where quality learning experiences enable students to participate effectively in the social, economic, political, intellectual, and cultural life of their communities. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. Full of history, the area offers a community rich with diversity, the arts, technology, vineyards, hiking, canoeing/kayaking, and many other activities.
Germanna Community College is currently seeking a full-time Coordinator of Student Life & Leadership. The Coordinator of Student Life & Leadership is responsible for creating, developing, implementing, sustaining, and assessing student engagement, co-curricular learning, and leadership development opportunities that enhance the student experience and support student success at Germanna Community College.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate students' sense of belonging, promoting overall health and wellness, and contributing to student retention, persistence, and completion.
- Provide collaborative support for the advancement of leadership development opportunities and experiences for students across the college with faculty and staff from Academic Affairs and Student Service departments.
- Provide consultative support and encouragement for the development and delivery of leadership programs by other departments.
- Facilitate opportunities on-campus and online that encourage student involvement and college connectedness through participation in Student Life & Leadership's signature programs: Student Government Association (SGA), Student Clubs & Organizations and the Inter-Club Council, Co-Curricular Programs and Events, Civic Engagement & Voter Empowerment, and Community Service.
- Provide operational support for all Student Clubs and Organizations and facilitates programs that encourages a vibrant study body.
- Actively engage in organizing and supporting large-scale events for students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Large-Scale programming and event planning. (Including development, implementation, and evaluation)
- Experience with student leadership development
- Experience with Budget management
- Experience with marketing, recruitment, and promotions
- Experience with student advising or counseling
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Previous experience supervising full-time and part-time staff, and student employees
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to use new and emerging technologies
- Must have knowledge of student development theory, multicultural issues, organizational leadership and development, and the history of higher education/student affairs
- Ability to create, lead, and sustain a program focused on student engagement and measured by retention, persistence, and completion
- Commitment to working with colleagues, students, and community members
