Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY: Greets patients in Radiology reception area. Enters outpatient requisitions, monitors patient waiting times, serves as a liaison and advocate for patients, communicates with testing departments, prepares CDs with patient imaging, faxes and charts interpretive reports as needed, assists with scheduling and obtaining outside imaging. Responsible for maintaining all patient files in a manner that is easily accessible. Also manages incoming calls related to Radiology services. Assists the Radiology Director and performs other duties as assigned. All employees of North Florida Regional Medical Center will promote a culture of safety, follow established policies, and adhere to all state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission requirements, and National Patient Safety standards.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1. Answers all incoming calls by the third ring and handles caller’s inquiries whenever possible.

2. Redirects calls as appropriate and takes adequate message when required.

3. Greets/ directs patients and visitors.

4. Accurately identifies patients using 2 patient identifiers.

5. Obtain necessary paperwork prior to testing or placing order for imaging exam.

6. Maintain and accurately record manually and electronically patient data in information systems and forms.

7. Maintain confidential and accurate records of patients.

8. Retrieve imaging and lab results as needed for comparison or scheduling procedures.

9. Notifies technologists of pending “STAT” exam in a timely manner.

10. Contacts physicians/technologists internally & externally when needed.

11. Monitors waiting room to avoid long wait times.

12. Assist with changing patients into gown prior to procedure.

13. Schedules outpatient exams as indicated by department protocol when needed.

14. Provide appropriate paperwork/schedule to IOU the day prior to exams scheduled for patients with pre and post

recovery needs.

15. Processes legal requests for imaging in radiology.

16. Works with medical records to provide the necessary documentation for coding.

17. Demonstrates a working knowledge of PACS, EMR, and information systems; i.e. retrieve patient medical record,

enter an order, access patient report, burn CD of imaging…

18. Orders office supplies.

19. Performs other duties as assigned.
