    Main Purpose of Job

    The mission of the Office of Health Care Quality (OHCQ) is to protect the health and safety of Marylanders and to ensure that there is public confidence in the health care and community service delivery systems. OHCQ is an agent of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and is the designated state survey agency in Maryland.

    The main purpose of this position is to support the Office of Health Care Quality''s (OHCQ) regulatory, public communication, stakeholder engagement and administrative functions under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer. This position will coordinate and manage public meetings in compliance with the Maryland Open Meetings Act by developing meeting schedules, preparing agendas and materials, recording meeting minutes, tracking follow-up items and providing administrative support for required internal and external meetings. This position will serve as part of a team responsible for processing Public Information Act (PIA), Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and subpoena requests, as well as managing controlled correspondence by coordinating with internal programs, maintaining accurate records, tracking deadlines and supporting timely and consistent responses to public, provider, legislative and stakeholder inquiries.

    This position will also maintain OHCQ listservs and support agency-wide external communications and internal stakeholder communications, including provider notices, stakeholder updates, meeting announcements, distribution lists, internal messaging and other communications that promote consistency, transparency and timely information sharing across OHCQ programs and with external partners. This position will also support the Maryland Hospital Patient Safety Program by assisting with the intake and classification of adverse events, reviewing submitted root cause analyses, communicating with hospitals regarding reporting expectations and performing other administrative duties.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:Â Â Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

    Experience: Three years of professional experience in assisting in the coordination of a health-related program(s) or referring people to governmental and private resources.

    Notes:

    1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

    2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health-related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

    DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    The desired candidate should possess the following:

    1. Experience managing public meetings and/or correspondence while ensuring compliance with federal and/or State laws (e.g., Maryland Open Meetings Act, Public Information Act (PIA) and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)).

    2. Experience organizing, cleaning and/or analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to support strategic decision-making.

    3. Experience and/or exposure to the healthcare industry, including hospitals, nursing homes or assisted living programs.

    4. Experience using Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Smartsheet and/or Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) software products (e.g., iQIES).
