Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and one year of related professional experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a college, university, student center, union, or conference center setting is preferred.

Job Description Summary

The University of South Alabama's Student Center is seeking to hire a Coordinator, Student Center. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.

Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains responsibility for the management and administration of Jag Card student identification office operations including the management and maintenance of IF system and supervision of student staff.
  • Oversees recruitment, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development of Jag Card student employees.
  • Fosters a team of culture of accountability, customer service, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Leads the digital media efforts for the Student Center including managing all social media and website content, ensuring they are up-to-date, user friendly, and functional.
  • Manages digital signage, radio, security cameras, and access control systems for the Student Center.
  • Assesses and evaluates programs and services under one's responsibility and initiates improvements as appropriate.
  • Assists the Assistant Director to ensure the Student Center offers a high level of customer service, student development, staff supervision, event management, and skilled and proactive technical support.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the management and maintenance of the EMA (Event Management Software) software used for scheduling reservation requests.
  • Assists with the assessment of plan and policy updates for the Student Center.
  • Serves as co-chair for the Student Center Advisory Board, along with the Assistant Director, and assists in coordinating board meetings and agendas.
  • Acts as a designated safety and emergency response personnel for the Student Center building.
  • Attends Student Center user events as needed.
  • Manages notifications of violations of the University solicitation policy as outlined in the student handbook.
  • Provides assistance with the daily management of the Student Center facility.
  • Assists with ongoing in-service training, leadership workshops, and staff retreats.
  • Represents the Student Center on university committees as assigned.
  • Maintains active involvement in professional associations as NACCU and ACUI to stay informed about industry trends and best practices.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with university policies and local, state, and federal laws.
  • Partners with colleagues across the university to enhance the overall student experience, prioritizing student development and growth.
  • Performs all functions and responsibilities of a Campus Security Authority, as defined by the Clery Act.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
  • Related duties as required.
