Position Summary

As an official representative of Pima Community College, the Student Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator plays an important role in connecting prospective students and communities with the opportunities available at PCC. Working across the Colleges service area, the Coordinator engages with prospective students and families, builds strong community connections, and represents the College through outreach activities, recruitment events, and community partnerships.

The Student Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator coordinates and conducts student recruitment and community outreach activities to support College enrollment goals. The Coordinator provides information and guidance to prospective students and families throughout the enrollment process, develops and maintains relationships with community partners, and coordinates recruitment events, presentations, and promotional activities. The Student Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator collaborates with the Director of Student Recruitment, College departments, and community partners to implement recruitment initiatives, improve outreach processes, and connect prospective students with College programs, resources, and services.

The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends and local travel.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conducts student recruitment activities to engage prospective students and support their progression from initial inquiry through application and enrollment. Utilizes the colleges CRM system to track prospective students from initial lead to application, maintaining accurate records of student interactions, applications, and enrollment outcomes to drive conversion goals
  • Provides responsive and student-centered service by proactively communicating with prospective students and families through phone, email, virtual, and in-person interactions to respond to inquiries, provide information and guidance regarding College programs, admissions requirements, financial aid, enrollment processes, and available resources, and guide prospective students through the enrollment process
  • Develops and maintains external partnerships with local businesses, county organizations, community agencies, and other community partners across the Colleges service area
  • Plans, coordinates, and participates in community outreach and promotional activities to increase awareness of College programs and resources and support prospective student recruitment, including the development of outreach communications and materials. Serves as a primary point of contact and responds to community inquiries regarding College programs, admissions, financial aid, and enrollment
  • Supports secondary recruitment efforts facilitated by the High School Engagement and Recruitment team as needed
  • Organizes, executes, and participates in virtual and in-person recruitment sessions and campus recruitment events (e.g., Open Houses, Pima Days), delivering presentations and information to prospective students and other audiences, serving as a primary point of contact and responding to prospective student and family inquiries regarding admissions, financial aid, enrollment, and College programs and resources
  • Coordinates with the Director of Student Recruitment to implement recruitment and outreach activities, monitor operational workflows, identify and implement process improvements, and support departmental objectives and College-wide enrollment goals
  • Collaborates internally with Enrollment Management, Marketing, Student Services, and college-wide staff to ensure aligned communications, effective onboarding workflows, and access to support resources for a smooth student transition
  • Tracks, analyzes, and reports student engagement, recruitment impact, and retention trends to evaluate program effectiveness, maintain accurate records, and identify areas for data-driven improvement
  • Participates in College committees, task forces, and initiatives related to student recruitment and retention, collaborating with diverse stakeholders to support College and departmental initiatives
  • Assists in budget planning and oversees program expenditures as needed
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, or a closely related field of study and
  • One to three years of related experience and
  • Valid Arizona drivers license

or

  • An equivalent combination of certification, education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, or a closely related field of study
  • Three to five years of related experience
  • Bilingual

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Student Recruitment & Admissions Principles: Thorough understanding of higher education enrollment funnels, admissions workflows, advising best practices, and college policies and procedures
  • Outreach & Promotion Strategies: Strong knowledge of methods, marketing channels, and engagement strategies for promoting academic programs and community college resources to diverse adult and community populations
  • Advanced Customer Experience Standards: In-depth understanding of internal and external customer service principles, relationship management, and student-centered communication standards
  • Higher Education CRM Systems: Functional knowledge of recruitment CRMs (e.g., Salesforce, Banner, Slate) and data-tracking systems used to monitor student leads from inquiry to enrollment
  • Dynamic Public Speaking & Presentation: Superior verbal communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to confidently present information and engage diverse audiences during virtual and in-person sessions
  • Cross-Functional Project & Event Management: Proven skill in planning, organizing, and executing multifaceted outreach events, community partnerships, and promotional campaigns simultaneously
  • Written & Interpersonal Communication: Exceptional written communication skills for crafting compelling student correspondence, email campaigns, and outreach materials
  • Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with the flexibility to prioritize tasks, shift focus in a fast-paced environment, and implement process improvements
  • Relationship Building & Strategic Collaboration: Ability to establish, cultivate, and maintain positive, productive working relationships with internal college departments, community agencies, business partners, and prospective students
  • Professional Composure & Crisis Response: Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain professional composure, and de-escalate sensitive situations during emergent or high-stress scenarios
  • Team Collaboration & Inclusivity: Ability to work effectively within diverse, cross-functional teams and foster an inclusive, welcoming environment for all prospective students and stakeholders

Physical Requirements:

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with staff contact and frequent interruptions.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a standard office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate (up to 20 pounds) amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
