    Job Description:

    Compensation: $47,000 to $50,000 annual.

    ASU TRIO Programs seeks a Coordinator for the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) programs at the Tempe campus. These programs include Tempe SSS and SSS Disability.  Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Coordinator performs a variety of professional activities to achieve program objectives. The Coordinator supports students’ academic, personal, and professional goals to help them retain and graduate from ASU.  The ideal candidate works independently, is a strong individual contributor, as well as an effective team player, who can meet priority deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality, as well as develop a strong rapport with our students. The ideal candidate must work well in a fast‐paced, flexible environment, provide a high level of customer service to both the university and external communities, and make strong contributions both as an individual and as a team player.

    Working Environment:

    • Primarily office-based work in a university setting (Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM; May include extended hours, some evenings and weekends)

    • Job location is primarily at the Tempe Campus; however, incumbent may occasionally be required to travel to other ASU campuses and throughout the valley to perform work as well as chaperone in-state and out-of-state field trips.

    • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing

    • Professionally represents department/program

    • Use computers effectively - including inputting, reviewing and retrieving information, extended periods of viewing computer screens and using mouse and keyboard

    • Work collaboratively across university departments and with diverse populations and groups to achieve program goals and objectives.

    • Walk throughout campus for meetings or events, regardless of the weather

    • Use critical thinking to make decisions and/or analyze data

    • Works in an organized office environment that requires accurate recordkeeping, systematic file management, and attention to detail in records documentation while managing multiple priorities and adhering to established policies andprocedures.

    • Supervise students and/or staff

    • Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time

    • Ability to lift 35lbs

    Essential Duties:

    • Research, develop, implement, and assess academic, personal skills, and professional development programs for SSS students.

    • Provide students with the necessary information to successfully navigate their academic courses at the university.

    • Assist with recruitment, selection and retention of program participants.

    • Work with students individually to provide guidance in various areas including academics, financial aid and career counseling.

    • Evaluate SSS student needs and refer to appropriate university and community resources.

    • Collaborate with other university departments and community partners to assist with student retention and academic success

    • Hire, train, and supervise student employees

    • Administer assessment instrument(s) to SSS students, and record and document results.

    • Collaborate with other TRIO Programs and Access ASU Programs to increase retention and graduation.

    • Support student and staff-related technology and resource needs.

    • Maintain confidential SSS student records in accordance with federal and university rules and regulations.

    • Support summer transition programming for first-year students, including transfer students.

    • Assist SSS Program Director and Program Manager in planning and implementation of program goals and activities.

    • Assist SSS Program Director and Program Manager in report writing activities related to the SSS and help formulate information reported to the U.S. Department of Education and ASU.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in student affairs, higher education or related field

    • Experience with TRIO programs and/or similar programs working with first-generation students, low income students, and students with disabilities

    • Experience in higher education or working with college students

    • Experience in providing guidance to overcome barriers similar to those confronting the program's target population

    • Experience with completing assigned projects in a timely manner and work well under priority deadlines

    • Experience with student engagement and retention efforts.

    • Experience in planning, scheduling, and supervising the work of others.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer skills including use of MS Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Access), social media (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.), G Suite (e.g., Google Drive, Gmail, Hangouts, etc.) and ASU computer systems (e.g., Peoplesoft, Salesforce, Canvas, Zoom, Slack, etc.)

    Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) is committed to enrolling all qualified students at Arizona State University and assisting them in their academic success. EOSS provides a broad range of services and support to students and prospective students ranging from outreach efforts with K-12 schools, orientation programs for new freshman, bridge programs to assist the transition to a university environment, and a wide variety of services, programs and activities for enrolled students. EOSS has direct responsibility for multiple departments across four campuses, some of which include the Dean of Students, University Housing, Health Services, Counseling Services, Disability Resources, the Memorial Union, TRIO programs, Sun Devil Fitness, Student Government, Student Media, Career Services, Access ASU and others.
