Department: Communication and Creative Services

General Statement of Job

The Video Production Coordinator under the direction of the Director of Video Production and Content Strategy, oversees the Video Production unit of the department.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates, schedules and develops production of video projects including the following activities: scripting, storyboarding, directing, operating video cameras, producing and editing, lighting, and audio recording.
  • Collaborates closely with internal clients and stakeholders to help facilitate the creation of multimedia content and adherence to the college brand.
  • Manages budget, cost estimates, time management, and oversees allocation of resources for commercial campaign productions and other video productions as assigned by the Director of PR & Marketing.
  • Coordinates and directs all third-party production companies, crewmembers, and freelance videographers.
  • Supervises and directs video shoots and all aspects of post-production.
  • Performs variety of edits in various aspect ratios of finished video products tailored specifically for social media platforms, YouTube, and live playback.
  • Reviews and assesses all video production requests.
  • Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of STC videographer(s) to ensure all requested projects are assigned and produced in a timely manner.
  • Plans video shoots; scouting, selecting and reserving shoot locations.
  • Works with PR & Marketing leadership team to develop ideas for communication strategies and develop related promotional plans, tactics and materials.
  • Oversees the purchasing and/or renting of video production equipment.
  • Oversees and manage video library and all related multimedia assets.
  • Evaluate analytics and performance.
  • Responsible for cataloging all video and photographic footage.
  • Maintains records and prepares reports related to projects.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and safekeeping of all equipment, troubleshooting, and making minor repairs as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of professional experience in radio, television, film, sound or news media required.
  • Higher education experience preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with professional cameras, prosumer camcorders, various HD and SD formats, preproduction/planning, studio and field production, lighting/grip, scriptwriting, storyboarding and photography.
  • Audio knowledge of small format mixers, compression, EQ, effects processors, audio recording techniques for studio and field, multi-track and waveform editing.
  • Post-production experience with digital video editing, still and motion graphics design, and video compression for multiple delivery platforms.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
