We are currently seeking a seasoned Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team. The role will involve preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for projects to aid in bidding for contracts and project financial planning. Job Details
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for all cost components.
2. Understand the scope of work to bid from reviewing proposal specifications, drawings, attending pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine key factors affecting costs.
3. Evaluate and consider factors such as production time, materials and labor expenses, project scope, location, and potential risks when estimating costs, savings, and profit margins.
4. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and architects during the process of estimating costs.
5. Manage bid pricing from all vendors and select and evaluate subcontractor quotes for best value.
6. Maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure comprehensive coverage of all scopes of work.
7. Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
8. Present estimates to senior management and clients, explaining key cost factors and offering cost-saving or value-engineering alternatives.
9. Keep up-to-date records of all estimation documentation, including site assessments and contract terms; update as necessary.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimation, specifically within federal, state, or government construction.
2. Proven experience in industrial construction, hospitality construction, and federal construction is highly desirable.
3. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is preferred.
4. Extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices.
5. Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills, with a deep understanding of cost analysis and forecasting.
6. Proficiency in relevant software, including cost estimation and project management software.
7. Excellent communication and negotiation skills; ability to present cost estimates clearly and negotiate cost changes effectively.
8. Strong attention to detail and the ability to make accurate, high-quality decisions under pressure.
9. Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines concurrently.
10. Professional certification in construction estimation or project management is a plus.
