Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a detail-oriented Core Assembly Technician to join a heat exchanger manufacturing team in Claremore. This position is responsible for assembling heat exchanger cores by accurately positioning and securing tubes, fins, tube sheets, side plates, separators, and related components according to engineering specifications.
The ideal candidate has previous manufacturing or assembly experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the attention to detail necessary to maintain precise fit, alignment, and dimensional accuracy throughout the assembly process.
Required Experience & Skills
High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous manufacturing, assembly, or heat exchanger experience preferred
Ability to read and understand blueprints, assembly drawings, and work instructions
Basic knowledge of measuring instruments including tape measures, calipers, and gauges
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to follow dimensional and assembly specifications accurately
Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
Basic computer and documentation skills preferred
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assemble heat exchanger cores using tubes, fins, tube sheets, side plates, separators, and related components
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and bills of materials
Verify correct materials, dimensions, and component placement before beginning assembly
Align, stack, position, and secure core components according to specified tolerances
Inspect individual components for damage, defects, or other quality concerns
Perform visual and dimensional inspections of completed core assemblies
Verify proper fit, alignment, and dimensional accuracy throughout the assembly process
Prepare completed assemblies for brazing, welding, pressure testing, or subsequent production operations
Safely operate assembly equipment, fixtures, hand tools, and measuring devices
Report nonconforming materials, equipment issues, and quality concerns to supervisors
Maintain accurate production records and complete required documentation
Maintain clean and organized work areas according to 5S and lean manufacturing standards
Support continuous improvement efforts focused on productivity, quality, and safety
Follow all company safety procedures, quality requirements, and production policies
Preferred Qualifications
Previous heat exchanger manufacturing experience
Mechanical or precision assembly experience
Experience working with tubes, fins, sheet metal, or similar manufactured components
Experience working from engineering drawings and bills of materials
Familiarity with dimensional tolerances and quality inspection procedures
Experience preparing assemblies for brazing, welding, or pressure testing
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive hand movements
Manual dexterity to handle smaller components and assembly tools accurately
Ability to safely use hand tools, fixtures, and measuring equipment while wearing required PPE
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures
Work Environment
Industrial manufacturing and heat exchanger production facility
Hands-on assembly involving tubes, fins, tube sheets, structural components, and precision measuring equipment
Exposure to production noise, dust, varying temperatures, and industrial machinery
Work may be performed near brazing, welding, pressure-testing, and other fabrication operations
Quality-focused environment requiring precise component placement and dimensional accuracy
