Overview:

We are seeking a full-time Corporate Accountant at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.  In this role, you will be responsible for providing a broad range of accounting and analytical support to the Finance department, including key contributions to the timely and accurate completion of the monthly close and reporting process of Garmin’s US operations and corporate holding companies.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

  • Perform monthly financial statement close activities including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, support schedules, and analysis
  • Design, analyze, and maintain accounting records to support complex accrual estimates
  • Serve as a liaison with other departments to provide support services on financial matters, accounting policy, or other business initiatives
  • Assist in footnote preparation for 10-Q and 10-K SEC filings
  • Provide audit support to internal/external auditors and provide support to finance management/other internal customers including ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of processes, procedures and systems to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and US GAAP
  • Research technical accounting topics and prepare memos/documentation as needed
  • Provide support to finance management and other internal customers, including ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance AND a minimum of 2 years of complex accounting experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience 
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills  
  • Must be positive, detail oriented, analytical, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Must possess strong computer skills using Microsoft Office applications (specifically Microsoft Excel)

Desired Qualifications

  • CPA
  • Public accounting experience
  • Oracle ERP applications experience
